IT Assistant

KEY PURPOSE OF THE JOB

eStar operates with a mixed in-house and outsourced IT dept. We are recruiting for a newly created IT assistant role to support colleagues in our expanding business. This role would be ideal for a graduate looking for their first move into the IT industry.

In this role you will work closely with both our in-house IT lead and our external IT support provider, together with other third party system providers.

You will assist in providing hands on and proactive day-to-day support with infrastructure and application related activities and first line user support, being the first point of contact for user queries.

This role will be based out of our Head Office in Knowsley, however we currently have 7 sites covering the North-West and North Wales and travel to other sites will be required as part of the role

Hours

Monday - Friday

8.30am - 5pm

Salary

Up to £25,000 depending on experience.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide first line user support to assist colleagues on-site with technical support.
  • Train users in correct usage of their devices.
  • Communicate efficiently to ensure the end-users problems are resolved.
  • Assist with identifying trends relating to IT failures and issues.
  • Maintain accuracy of system documentation and asset database detailing all IT equipment
  • Support with deployment of new software applications and updates to existing software packages
  • Troubleshooting relevant equipment, including but not limited to PC/laptop/tablets, wired and wireless LAN problems, AV equipment
  • Support with the delivery of projects in line with business requirements
  • Repair, image and configure old/new equipment for set up of users and workshop/other equipment
  • Monitor, secure and maintain relevant systems to ensure data accuracy and reliability
  • Maintain relevant user access and permissions
  • Ensure 1st level of preventative and curative operations on every hardware in the server room: network, servers, providing remote hands to external IT as required
  • Ensuring compliance with company procedures, projects and governance
  • Ensuring correct installation, implementation and operation of technical equipment

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE JOB

  • Interest in IT with aspirations to develop in the role
  • Good knowledge of Windows OS, MS Office and Office 365 Suite
  • Good knowledge of Outlook and Active Directory
  • Basic knowledge of TCP / IP network (DHCP, DNS etc.)
  • A technical mindset with the ability to quickly grasp new concepts
  • Basic understanding of PC hardware and software
  • Any experience within the automotive industry would be an advantage.

Job Type: Full-time
